Secondary

A quick glance at one of the most interesting activities the students participated in: the STEM competition.

Here we have our secondary students during a stage 2 competition round, working together with their team members to answer some difficult trivia questions about various topics such as zoology, ecosystems, technology, scientific history, infrastructure, material engineering, and the human body.

Secondary

The Secondary School Curriculum is based on Cambridge National Curriculum. The curriculum offered in upper secondary builds on the skills, knowledge and understanding gained in the lower years. Students are more independent and gets involved in project-based learning that enhances their cognitive skills. Islamic Studies are taught according to the Azhar Curriculum, in Egypt. It is meant to expose our students to the Islamic rules and regulations that help them develop their characters as good Muslim examples. Quraan is part of our daily routine. We aim at making our students live with the Quraan, not just take it as a subject.

Believing that technology intelligence is an inevitable skill for our students, secondary students are supplied with laptops, as a tool to execute tasks, do assignments or assessments online.

– British Curriculum.
– Islamic Studies.
– INTERNATIONAL GENERAL CERTIFICATE of SECONDARY EDUCATION (IGCSE).

Secondary stage is very crucial as students are preparing for their higher education and major choices for the next phase of their lives. Therefore, homeroom and subject teachers are carefully chosen to provide students with the strong support they need.

Each student is provided with a laptop to access Spectrum’s education modules anytime and anywhere. With personalized Google and Microsoft for education accounts, they can communicate and connect with their teachers and classmates.

In addition, Spectrum’s educational modules (SEM) give students the opportunity to prepare, study and practice to improve their knowledge and understanding. Students strengthen and enhance their ability to study independently and keep track of their own progress.

Being present in a culturally diverse community, students have the chance to understand unfamiliar cultures. This helps them to further develop their social, leadership, problem-solving skills and teamwork. Using those skills, they can contribute positively to their community and make the correct decisions for the next step in their journey.

IGCSE

IGCSE is the doorstep to pre-university education, it forms a huge part in the students’ development and readiness for the coming stage. With two streams to choose from, students have the opportunity to explore and discover their desired undergraduate course and future career paths.

Cambridge Secondary 2 provides a flexible, stimulating, broad and balanced curriculum, which builds upon the foundations of Cambridge Secondary 1. The standards of Cambridge IGCSE are in alignment with the GCSE qualification taken in England, UK. The students undertake compulsory examined courses English and Mathematics and compulsory non-examined courses Islamic Studies, Quran and Physical Education. The option choices are designed to allow for certain subject pathways to be followed (Science or Humanities) or a blend of academic disciplines. This usually reflects the students’ interest and aspirations.

Preparation for the IGCSE examinations starts from day one. Lesson plans focus on planning for learning and schemes of work are designed to ensure that students achieve their learning objectives and assess the progress and understanding with the success criteria. Educational modules such as Google and Microsoft for education are used to ease the learning process for students. Examinations practices are given to equip students with the skills they need to excel in the IGCSE examination.

The mock examination which is a replica of the actual IGCSE examination environment is considered one of the final preparations. Similar preparations are implemented at Cambridge Secondary 1 – years 7, 8 and 9 to ensure they can excel in their Checkpoint examination in year 9.
