Early Childhood Education
Early Childhood Education is a fundamental stage in the childrens’ education path since it prepares them for their formal education years. In Spectrum, we believe that students should be ready not only academically but also as independent Muslims, and that is why we carefully select the best curriculums and tools to develop our future learners.
The Finnish early Childhood Education program
Outlined by experts in the development of early childhood education from the University of Helsinki. Referred to as HEI curriculum. It is known to be student centric, where students’ life skills grow and develop as they learn, play and socialize in a stress-free environment. It also pays great attention to the students’ wellbeing by teaching them about their emotions and how to deal with them.
We have recently signed an agreement with HEI schools to become the 1st and only Preschool that follows the Finnish education system, alongside with the Islamic curriculum and is accredited by the University of Helsinki in Finland.
Many of you might be wondering what the Finnish education is? and why is it considered a huge achievement for the Malaysian community? In this video we have got these questions answered by Mr. Heikki Vartia the partnership & sales’ manager of HEI school and Ms. Karolina Nygren the Pedagogical director of HEI schools.
Children’s learning is not limited to specific activities or the classroom. Every situation and moment is a chance to learn something new. The teachers’ role is to recognize these moments – like wearing the shoes, eating, or exploring outdoors – and boost the learning opportunity because children learn best when it is applicable to their own lives and personal experiences. Even babies can learn so much from their interactions and surrounding throughout the day, and we emphasize the importance of these opportunities. And for this crucial age group, we have integrated a well restructured education with our Islamic values and education. This is why we are using a high quality finnish education which gives us the flexibility to integrate the Islamic education and become the 1st and only Finnish & Islamic preschool in Malaysia .
Learning Areas and Methodology
We use a holistic approach, paying close attention to the student’s play, socio-emotional, physical language and cognitive development. The curriculum supports children being active agents in their learning and development. It inspires them to think with creativity, compassion and resourcefulness.
By empowering children with the ability to ask questions, instead of giving them answers, the love of learning and discovery will be instilled naturally. Exploration and curiosity are key elements of learning. We promote children’s natural abilities to observe, analyze and understand the world around them.
We support the development of children’s linguistic and mathematical skills through different everyday activities. We strengthen children’s relationship with nature and the surrounding environment through science and environmental Education. We focus on building a strong foundation for a healthy way of living which consists of physical activity, nutrition, rest, self-care and care of others. This learning area supports other learning areas and helps children manage their daily life and routines.
We support children in understanding the diversity in their local community, as well as the practices that activate respect for diversity. We support children’s growth as conscious human beings and help them to understand what it means to be an ethically responsible member of society.
Students start their day with the Quran Halaqa. That’s a session where they learn Quran recitation and meanings, according to their levels. When it comes to Arabic sessions, students are divided into two classes, native and non-native Arabic speakers. They use Kalemon curriculum to learn the Arabic terms and vocabulary that match the monthly theme.
Finally, Islamic studies, which focus on Islamic manners and daily prayers. As well as the biography (Seerah) of Prophet Muhammad ( صَلَّى اللّٰهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّم) and his companions.
Why is our Early Childhood Education special?
We are the first Finnish-Islamic School in Malaysia and worldwide. Our students have the chance to learn and feed their curiosity without any examination stress as we use detailed and focused observation methodology to track the students’ learning outcomes through our highly-skilled instructors and facilitators. All in all, your children will start an unforgettable journey at Spectrum’s Early Childhood Education.
