Family Engagement Day

The definition of Family Engagement day in Spectrum is an event that ensures parents play an active role in developing their children’s learning and education as well as being included in the school’s decision-making.

Family Engagement Strategies

Due to the pandemic, the physical event has been transformed into a successful online event, attended by all participating families.

The main strategy followed in all our previous events was based on keeping the families aware of our learning methodologies, including the monthly plans, as well as updates on previous months’ performance using explicit feedback.

Additionally, other activities such as workshops, educational discussions, and sharing success stories take place during the event.

Theoretical Perspectives

Family-based events include different forms such as Parents Teachers Conference (PTC), Family Engagement Day,  and Individual meetings organized to support them in parenting and establishing home-school collaboration.

During these events, parents will have an opportunity to discuss child-raising challenges as well as share their thoughts, experiences, and struggles.

Participants

All ECE educators are fully engaged as such events are considered of high importance to support the students’ development.

The following graph shows the number of families participating in the family engagement day since it was first implemented on October 3rd, 2020 and up to date. It is apparent that the parents’ participation gradually increased, achieving the goal of full participation.
