In September 2022, the children get to participate in STEM education related activities when coding robots, building their very own robots and making plus observing experiments. As a project work children plan their own robots and craft them! Their robots were structured in various kinds of size, shape and various types of service too!

STAR OF THE WEEKS

The Star of the Week is presented each week and receives a special moment during our Get Together session. It is for children to be familiar with their peers, gain individual attention, promote a sense of belonging and confidence in performing in front of peers. Give a big round of applause to September Stars! They are… Eusoff, Salman, Hijaz, Noor, Althea, Syifa’, Amir & Rizqi!

OUR ACTIVITIES

During the first week, we get to explore different transportations and the mechanics in the machines.

In the third week it’s time to explore children’s cultures by exploring fairy tales and dance moves from different cultures. Project work continues as the children finalize their robots.

Our activities continue in the second week when children practice coding each other and building their own robots. Children participate in activities about shapes and digital technology activities to challenge their critical thinking and math skills.

At the end of the month, the children continue exploring STEM education by participating in science experiments and discussing their favorite media characters. They also get to participate in an activity where they present their robots they have made.

WONDERFUL FRIDAYS & STEM FAIR

We had our wonderful Friday full of movements and observations too! The young ones get to be in teams for the telematch. They sure are good cheerleaders for their teammates and gave their best support for them to complete the round of telematch provided! Afterwards, they put on their jackets to observe their very own DIY Lava Lamp experiment. The mesmerizing feel of watching a lava lamp, with its large colored bubbles sinking, rising, and morphing? The action they saw and observed is actually fun as it’s caused by the density and polarity of the substances.

In relation to the theme of the month, the students had the opportunity to hold a STEM Fair and showcase to the Spectrum community. They were proud to showcase their lung models, raft crafts, crafted + structured robots and also hold a live experiment which was cloud in a jar!

LEARNING TRIP

The young learners had the opportunity to visit the Chocolate Museum that was located at Kota Damansara, Selangor. It is the latest, most interactive, one-of-a-kind chocolate museum in South East Asia with interactive digital displays, fascinating facts, state-of-the-art equipment and more than 100 chocolate brands available at best prices!

The museum was divided into a number of sections from journey of chocolates, father of chocolate, health benefits of chocolates, chocolate in the industry, chocolate kitchen and chocolate galleria.

During the learning trip, apart from having a tour of the Chocolate Museum, the young learners did attend a Chocolate Workshop. From this activity, they discovered the steps of how chocolate is made; from melting to molding. It sure was fun for them as throughout the process of making their chocolate bar and marshmallow sticks, they sneak a lick of the fingers that were full of chocolate!

FAMILY ACTIVITIES

Throughout the month of September, families were encouraged to do the activities with our young learners at home such as Share and discuss with the young learners what can the robot that they crafted do, for Week 1.  Example of questions: “Can your robot fly? Or can it cook?”

For Week 2, families to let the young learners share their thoughts on their experience of their journey during the learning trip. What did they smell when entering the factory? What did they see? How does it feel to touch

For Week 3, it is a bit of a mystery as families have to decode the message given.

Lastly in Week 4, families to encourage the young ones to share with us their favorite moment during the STEM fair.

We sure had our weeks full of discovery, and enjoyable time together! We truly appreciate young learners’ awesome participation and continuous support from the  families.
